What Can You Expect From Wearing Weighted Bracelets?

weight bracelet

Just as you might imagine from their name, weighted bracelets are simple straps worn in the same way as a bracelet or bangle, but which are weighted.

Used to add a little extra resistance when exercising, you may expect to gain the following benefits when wearing a weight bracelet:

  • Weight loss

Although wearing a weighted bracelet isn’t going to help you quickly shed pounds, it can help you burn some additional calories when exercising, by making your body work harder for every minute of running or walking.

A person’s weight can have a significant impact on the amount of calories they’re able to burn. To move around, such as when jogging or walking, energy is required, and that energy is measured in calories. In essence, the heavier a person is, the more energy they require to fuel their movements.

By swinging your arms when exercising while wearing a weighted bracelet, for example, the effect is likely to be more than if that weight was represented in additional body weight. Although it might seem small, every little bit can make a difference.

  • Less chance of dropping them

Some people choose to walk or run while carrying light dumbbells, but the risk of dropping them is always present, disrupting their flow and potentially causing harm to themselves or someone else.

With weighted bracelets, your hands are free to do whatever you please with while exercising, and there’s no chance of them falling off or being dropped, interrupting your exercise session.

  • Your muscles are engaged more

Wrist weights worn while exercising can help the body engage some of the muscles, such as biceps, deltoids, scapular muscles, core muscles, leg muscles and trapezius, and enhance their endurance.

Compared to their relative strengths, the muscles of the upper body will be significantly challenged while wearing weighted bracelets.

  • Improved cardiovascular health

The heart and blood vessels of the body’s cardiovascular system, transport essential nutrients, waste, and oxygen throughout the body. When a person moves their body in a more intense manner, such as when exercising, their body still needs to transport the waste, oxygen and nutrients around the body, and as the heart is typically used for this, it tends to function at a higher rate. When this is done safely, the cardiovascular system becomes stronger.

Now while there are ways of achieving this that are undoubtedly more effective, wearing wrist bracelets does encourage the heart to beat faster, and therefore does help to strengthen the cardiovascular system.

  • The potential for improved bone density

Just as with other areas of the human body, subjecting bones to extra pressure in a safe manner, can help to make them stronger, and prevent such things as broken bones.

While you might not be worried about your bone strength now, there may come a time as you age, when you need to be, and wearing weighted wristbands could help you safely and effectively achieve stronger bones.

It’s important to recognize that while weighted bracelets are by no means a miracle tool for helping you lose weight and strengthen your bones, they absolutely can help you get a little fitter and feel a little healthier, with relative ease.
